Position Summary: The classroom teacher is responsible for delivering high-quality instruction, fostering student learning, and maintaining an effective classroom environment. This role includes planning lessons aligned with curriculum standards, assessing student progress, and collaborating with colleagues, families, and administrators to support student success.

Qualifications:

  • Required: Valid Wisconsin DPI teaching license appropriate for the assigned subject/grade level and bachelor’s degree in education or a related field.
  • Preferred: Prior teaching experience in the assigned subject/grade level and familiarity with technology integration and various instructional strategies.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Instruction & Classroom Management
      • Develop and implement lesson plans that align with District and state standards.
      • Create and maintain a structured, engaging classroom environment that supports learning.
      • Use a variety of instructional methods and assessments to monitor student progress.
      • Set clear expectations for behavior and apply consistent classroom management strategies.
      • Adapt teaching methods to meet student learning needs.
  • Student Support & Professional Relationships
      • Build positive relationships with students to support their academic and personal growth.
      • Communicate effectively with students, families, and colleagues regarding student progress.
      • Maintain accurate and confidential student records in compliance with District policies.
      • Be available to provide additional support for students as needed.
  • Collaboration & Professionalism
      • Work collaboratively with colleagues to develop curriculum and instructional strategies.
      • Follow District policies and curriculum guidelines approved by the Board of Education.
      • Participate in school meetings, initiatives, and professional learning communities.
      • Maintain professionalism in all interactions and adhere to ethical and legal guidelines.
      • Support a positive and productive school culture.
  • Professional Growth & Development
      • Stay current with best practices in teaching and participate in professional development.
      • Attend required training, workshops, and staff meetings.
      • Implement innovative teaching techniques and educational strategies.
  • Other Responsibilities
      • Attend and participate in school events, meetings, and conferences as required.
      • Maintain regular, punctual attendance.
      • Perform additional duties as assigned by school administration.
  • Physical & Work Environment Requirements:
      • Ability to stand, walk, and sit for extended periods.
      • Occasional lifting, carrying, or pushing of materials and classroom equipment.
      • Ability to communicate effectively in person, via phone, and through electronic means.
      • Work primarily in a classroom setting, with occasional outdoor supervision and off-site activities.

Terms of Employment:

  • Contract Length: 192 days per school year.
  • Evaluation: Performance evaluations will be conducted by the Building Principal or Assistant Principal in accordance with Hudson School District Board of Education policies.

Instrumental Music Educator-Middle School

We are seeking a dynamic and passionate Instrumental Music Educator to inspire and engage middle school students in a comprehensive fine arts experience. The ideal candidate will have experience in both orchestral and band instrumentation, with a strong commitment to fostering creativity, collaboration, and joy in the classroom.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide instrumental music instruction for students at varying skill levels in both orchestra and band settings.

Teach engaging elective courses.

Integrate music education with elements of stage production and performance.

Promote student growth in musical technique, creative expression, and ensemble collaboration.

Work collaboratively as part of a dedicated fine arts team that includes orchestra, band, and choir instructors.

Qualifications:

Background in music education with experience in orchestral instruction and/or band instruction.

Passion for working with middle school students and supporting their artistic development.

Strong organizational and communication skills.

Experience or interest in interdisciplinary instruction, including theater and media arts, is a plus.
Essential Functions:

Deliver classroom instruction; implement lesson plans on instructional units; develop and determine methods, approaches and instructional units; maintain a classroom environment that is conducive to learning.

 

Assess and evaluate student performance against lesson plans; determine the need for re-instruction or need for new approach; reinforce information previously taught in the classroom; determine grades for reporting purposes; monitor student performance and behaviors and determine how to approach bad behaviors.

Develop and plan instructional activities; develop and implement lesson plans personalized for individual student needs; assist in the development and implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs); implement student assessments and evaluate results; determine assessment process for instructional units; research topics and materials designed to improve instructional presentations.

Prepare for substitute teachers; communicate with parents and participate in parent/student conferences; participate and prepare for peer evaluation process.

Supervise students during the school day according to the established building schedule; provide indirect supervision during regular school days.

Collaborate with staff in evaluating individual student issues and approaches to instructional units; evaluate new teaching technologies and/or procedures.

Participate in meetings (building staff meetings, departmental meetings, grade level meetings, staff development, open house/orientation) as necessary or required; attend professional development activities.
