The Goodhue County Education District (GCED) is seeking a collaborative, student-centered leader to serve as an Assistant Director of Special Education. This role offers the opportunity to impact student success across an entire school district.

GCED serves approximately 7,000 students across Goodhue County with over 150 staff. The district provides a wide range of services, including Setting IV and Transition (18–21) programs, Multilingual Learners/Title III, Alternative Education, Perkins/CTE, and 5RiversOnline, along with specialized services such as Early Childhood Special Education and Low-Incidence Disability programming.

Position Summary

Provide leadership and oversight of special education services within an assigned member district, ensuring high-quality programming and positive student outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

Lead and supervise special education programs
Ensure compliance with state and federal requirements
Manage and allocate resources effectively
Build strong relationships with staff, families, and partners
Support clear communication and collaborative problem-solving
Work as part of multiple collaborative teams
Qualifications

Valid Minnesota licensure in Special Education or related area
Master’s degree in Special Education or related field
Minnesota Director of Special Education license

Job Description
Hinckley-Finlayson High School is seeking a Health/Physical Education/Driver’s Education Teacher for the 2026-27 school year.  This position will teach 9th graders in Physical Education, Health and Driver’s Education.  Preference will be given to the person who holds a Health Teaching License, a Physical Education and a Driver’s Education Teaching License.

Responsibilities
– Develops and administers Health/Phy Ed/Driver’s Ed curriculum consistent with school district goals and objectives.
– Promotes a classroom environment that is safe and conducive to student learning.
– Conducts ongoing assessment of student learning and progress, and modifies instructional methods to fit individual student’s needs, including students with special needs.
– Organizes and maintains a system for accurate and complete record-keeping, grading and reporting for all student activities, achievement and attendance as required by the district.
– Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom.
– Coordinates with other professional staff members and participates in PLCs and other monthly meetings.

•  Work with a variety of students within any disability area

•  Must have good written and verbal communication skills

•  Must be able to create thorough lesson plans and implement them effectively

•  Must be able to do assessments for purposes of determining special education eligibility

•  Must have good data collection expertise and the ability to monitor student progress

•  Must be a good collaborator and team player

•  Must be able to work with and supervise paraprofessionals

Director of Facilities, Safety and Grounds
